You will learn how to find a story idea, how to focus it, how to create a one-sentence summary, how to develop a three-part story structure, how to create dramatic tension, and how to create well-rounded characters. You will also learn the basics of marketing your short stories to a publisher.

Are you an expert in a particular field? If not an expert, are you fascinated by a certain topic and would love to research it? Then you have the makings of a nonfiction writer for children. Nonfiction is the fastest growing children’s market. In this workshop you will learn how to find ideas, how to research a nonfiction article or book, how to organize your piece, how to write a query letter, and how to prepare your manuscript for submission to a publisher.
