t. Davids Christian Writers' Conference
In his song, "Joy in the Journey," Michael Card writes that "there is a wonder and wildness to life, and freedom for those who obey." The St. Davids Writers' Conference has traveled far in the past 50 years. But we look forward eagerly to the wonders we know God still has in store. One of those blessings has been our new location, Grove City College, one of America's top institutions of learning whose commitment to quality matches our own. "My experience," one conferee notes of the 2007 conference, "was not only educational but also transforming. The excellence of the entire conference allowed God to move with liberty, free of distraction or hindrance."
At the 2008 conference our faculty will include the following outstanding women:
Also part of the 2008 faculty will be three of our own distinguished board members. By popular demand Evelyn Minshull, author of 26 published books, will lead the writers' retreat again. Jana Carman--well known for her dramatic monologues and song writing--will advise on hymn writing, and computer-savvy Harry Bohrs will teach Powerpoint. You can click on workshops to view a list of the courses to be offered in 2008, and on faculty to view profiles of the faculty members who will be teaching them.
![]() Although St. Davids originated in the eastern Pennsylvania town of that name--as a ministry of the American Baptist Churches--the St. Davids Christian Writers' Association is now an independent, non-profit, interdenominational organization. As such, we welcome believers from all branches of the Christian family and conscientious writers from other walks of life, who are interested in making the most of their talents. We also include in our schedule classes aimed at beginning and intermediate as well as advanced writers. We trust, with the apostle Paul, that the power of the Church's body lies in the diversity of its parts. We offer a wide range of contests as well, to cover the variety of talents present. Although we realize that a four-day conference can be a large investment for some of you, you won't be sorry that you made this commitment to your writing career. Our conferees report that they leave feeling refreshed and re-invigorated. Please click on conference information to learn more, or on brochure to request our by-mail pamphlet.
Our newsletter, the Upper Case, includes columns on writing prose and poetry, plus featured authors, book reviews, and contests. It goes out free-of-charge to conferees, and is also available by subscription. Although the world of Christian publishing has changed drastically over the years St. Davids has been in business, our commitment to excellence has not. We still think Christian literature should be the best literature out there. And we firmly believe that, although the mediums by which we communicate may change, the Word upon which we base our words never does. We fully expect the coming years to be our best yet. And we welcome both old friends and new to come and journey joyfully with us!
